We work closely with local communities, parish churches, government, property developers and the wider corporate sector to plan new schools in growth areas throughout Western Australia.
The Anglican Schools Commission (Inc.) (ASC) is a separately incorporated entity governed by a Board. All West Australian schools operate under the one enterprise agreement.
The ASC relies on recurrent and capital funding from the Commonwealth and State Governments, as well as tuition fees and donations from generous benefactors to establish and operate schools in Western Australia, New South Wales and Victoria.
All West Australian schools operate under the one ASC enterprise agreement. They receive recurrent and capital funding from the Commonwealth and the Western Australian Government.
Trinity Anglican College's Albury and Wodonga campuses operate under the New South Wales' Association of Independent Schools Multi Enterprise Agreement. The former receives recurrent and capital funding from the Commonwealth and the New South Wales Government and the latter from the Commonwealth and the Victorian Government.
Cathedral College Wangaratta and Cobram Anglican Grammar School operate under the ASC's Victorian agreement (Cathedral College's enterprise agreement). Both schools receive recurrent and capital funding from the Commonwealth and Victorian Government.
Distribution of Commonwealth Recurrent Funding
The Anglican Schools Commission (ASC) is the Commonwealth Approved System Authority for The Anglican Schools Commission (Inc.) (ASC).
The ASC distributes Commonwealth recurrent funding to each of its 14 schools in accordance with the amounts calculated by the Department of Education under Section 78(4) of the Australian Education Act 2013 (the Act). This distribution is based on the Commonwealth’s allocation and includes:
Due to the changes made in 2018 to the Commonwealth’s method of calculation of entitlements, in 2018 and 2019 only the ASC will distribute the bulk of the ‘base’ funding component of all ASC schools’ calculated recurrent grant funding to its schools, in accordance with Section 78(5) of the Act, redistributing a small proportion of the base funding to assist schools in funding transition. In 2018, the redistributed figure amounts to 2% of the System’s aggregate base funding.
This is a transitional arrangement for 2018 and 2019 only, introduced to ensure that no school is inordinately disadvantaged from the change in funding model. Loadings specific to individual schools will be excluded from this redistribution. From 2020, it is proposed that the base funding component be distributed in accordance with Section 78(4) of the Act. A small proportion of funding is retained for System administration of school support.
Commonwealth and State funding is not pooled together for distribution purposes.
